State-owned engineering firm BHEL on Tuesday said that it has received a power plant project worth Rs 1,200-1,500 crore from Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL).

The letter of acceptance received for a captive power plant, which is part of a 4.08 MTPA crude steel expansion project of SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur, BHEL said in a regulatory filing.
The size of the order is in the range of Rs 1,200 crore to Rs 1,500 crore, excluding GST (goods and services tax), it said, adding that the commissioning of the project is expected in 39 months from the date of awarding the contract.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is an Indian public sector engineering and manufacturing company operating primarily in the energy and infrastructure sectors. Established in 1964, it manufactures power equipment and provides related services in domestic and international markets.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking under the Government of India. In the financial year 2021–22, the company produced approximately 17.367 million tonnes of crude steel.
SAIL operates five integrated steel plants located in Bhilai (Chhattisgarh), Rourkela (Odisha), Durgapur (West Bengal), Bokaro (Jharkhand), and Burnpur (West Bengal). In addition, it runs three special and alloy steel plants: the Alloy Steels Plant in Durgapur (West Bengal), the Salem Steel Plant in Salem (Tamil Nadu), and the Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant in Bhadravati (Karnataka).
