Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey visited South Eastern Coalfields Limited for a one-day review of the company’s operations, infrastructure projects and future plans. During the visit, he also met Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh in Raipur to discuss coal production, infrastructure development, logistics connectivity, energy security and industrial growth in the state.
The discussions focused on improving coordination between the Central and State Governments to speed up development projects and create employment opportunities in coal-bearing regions. The Minister appreciated the support provided by the Chhattisgarh Government for coal sector development and elaborated that joint efforts would strengthen the state’s contribution to India’s energy security.

At the SECL (South Eastern Coalfields) Headquarters, Dubey chaired a review meeting where he assessed coal production, dispatch, quality management, safety measures, digitisation initiatives, environmental sustainability, coal gasification projects, mine closure activities and CSR work. Senior officials from the Ministry of Coal and SECL, including SECL CMD Harish Duhan, attended the meeting.
The Minister said SECL is playing an important role in strengthening the country’s energy security. He also appreciated the company’s efforts in production, safety standards, quality assurance and environmental management. He stressed on the need for safe and sustainable mining practices, use of modern technology and better operational efficiency.
During the visit, Dubey launched the e-DADAS Portal and the Hospital Management and Information System (HMIS) Portal as part of SECL’s digital initiatives. The e-DADAS portal will help in online approval and monitoring of engineering designs for infrastructure projects, while the HMIS portal will improve healthcare services through digital patient records and hospital management systems.
The Minister also inaugurated a 5-Part Hematology Analyser Unit at the Indira Vihar Health Centre in Bilaspur to improve blood testing and diagnostic services. SECL CMD Harish Duhan said “SECL has contributed 26.86 million tonnes towards Coal India’s 100 million tonnes production milestone in FY 2026-27”.
