Tata Power Company has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy for the acquisition of Ryapte Power Transmission, a project special purpose vehicle (SPV), according to a company statement.
The project SPV will be developed on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis and will provide transmission services for 35 years from the scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD). The SCOD is set at 30 months after the SPV transfer.
The project involves construction and commissioning of approximately 250 km of transmission lines, including 400 kV and 220 kV double-circuit lines and underground cable infrastructure, along with two new substations in Karnataka. The scope includes establishing a 5×500 MVA, 400/220 kV substation at Ryapte in Tumkur District and a 3×500 MVA, 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote.
The transmission lines include a 400 kV double-circuit line from Ryapte AIS Substation to proposed Doddathaggalli GIS substation, a 400 kV double-circuit line from existing Kolar substation to Doddathaggalli GIS, and 220 kV double-circuit lines from Doddathaggalli GIS to existing substations at Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura, along with underground cable infrastructure.
The project carries an annual transmission charge of Rs 521.07 crore and is required to be completed within 30 months from the effective date.
Tata Power Company is a part of the Tata Group and is engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. The company’s consolidated net profit fell 4.50% to Rs 995.91 crore on 12.84% fall in revenue from operations to Rs 14,900.20 crore in Q4 FY26 over Q4 FY25.
Earlier this year, Tata Power Solaroof, a division of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), installed 1 GWp of rooftop solar capacity during the April-December period of this fiscal year across residential as well as commercial and industrial (C&I) segments, the company said. During the same period, the company added more than 1.7 lakh rooftop solar installations, recording a year-on-year growth of 345% compared with 38,494 installations in the corresponding period of FY25. The additions included rooftop and ground-mounted solar solutions across residential and C&I customers.
