Suzlon Group has secured a 248.85 MW wind energy order from the ArcelorMittal Group through its renewable energy entity in India, an official statement said.

The order is part of a 550 MW hybrid project in Gujarat, under which the wind component has been awarded to Suzlon for captive use at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel facilities in India. Suzlon has an installed wind capacity base of about 4.5 GW in Gujarat.
According to the statement, this is Suzlon’s fourth wind energy order linked to decarbonisation efforts in the steel sector, taking its cumulative contribution to around 1,156 MW of green steel capacity in India.
Over the past 12 months, Suzlon has partnered with several steel producers to support the transition towards lower-carbon steel manufacturing.
Commenting on the development, Vice Chairman, Suzlon Group, Girish Tanti said,”Steel is the backbone of India’s infrastructure, yet it remains one of the most energy-intensive industries. As the sector accelerates its journey toward decarbonization, renewable energy has become a competitive and viable contributor.”
Chief Executive Officer, Suzlon Group, JP Chalasani stated, “This project reflects Suzlon’s strategic focus on the EPC segment, where we aim to gradually increase its share to 50% of our overall order book. We expect EPC to drive an increasing share of our upcoming order wins.”
Additionally, Director, ArcelorMittal Sustainable Solutions India, Amit Harlalka, said, “We are committed to supporting energy transition and securing supply of clean energy for our operations-a goal that demands trusted partner.”
The Suzlon Group is a global renewable energy solutions provider, with 21+ GW* of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries. Headquartered at Suzlon One Earth in Pune, India, the Group includes Suzlon Energy Limited (NSE:SUZLON, BSE: 532667) and its subsidiaries.
A vertically integrated organisation, Suzlon has in-house R&D centres in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India with manufacturing facilities across India. The company has an installed base of 15.4 GW of assets and an additional ~6 GW installed outside India. Its portfolio includes the advanced 2.x MW and 3.x MW series of wind turbines.
