Suzlon Joins EV100 Initiative, Commits to Transitioning Fleet to Electric by 2035, reducing 24% emissions

By Enersider Desk | New Delhi

Suzlon Group has announced its membership in the EV100 initiative of Climate Group, a global program that encourages companies to adopt electric vehicles and support the shift to electric transport by 2030. Suzlon is the first Indian renewable energy company to join the initiative, an official statement said.

Under this commitment, the company will transition its fleet of 655 vehicles, including both owned and leased vehicles in the <3.5T and 3.5–7.5T categories, to electric by 2035.

The move is expected to help reduce Scope 1 emissions, which arise from direct sources within the organisation, including its vehicular fleet, according to the statement.

This commitment follows Suzlon’s earlier decision to join the RE100 initiative, under which it aims to power all facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030. Together, these targets form part of the company’s broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework, which includes achieving Net Zero Scope 1 emissions by 2035.

JP Chalasani, CEO, Suzlon Group, said Our ESG framework—anchored in Organization, Product, and Operations—supports our sustainability agenda alongside business growth. With the S144 turbine, we have set a benchmark for a low carbon footprint wind solution in India. Through our RE100 and EV100 commitments, we are aligning clean energy with clean mobility while working with responsible sourcing and supplier partnerships.”

It was further stated that these measures are part of the company’s wider decarbonisation approach, designed to integrate renewable energy use with sustainable mobility practices, aligning with India’s broader efforts toward reducing emissions and advancing its Net Zero targets.
