NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has posted about a 74 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 17.32 crore in the December quarter, hit by a surge in expenses.

It has reported a net profit of Rs 65.61 crore in the October-December period of preceding financial year, the company said in an exchange filing on Thursday. NGEL’s total income, however, rose to Rs 684.22 crore from Rs 581.46 crore in the year ago period.
The company’s expenses surged to Rs 615.60 crore from Rs 481.22 crore in the third quarter of FY25.
Additionally, NTPC’s step-down arm NTPC Renewable Energy has begun commercial electricity supply of 130.47 MW from its 1,255 MW Khavda-I solar project in Gujarat. NTPC Renewable Energy is an arm of NTPC Green Energy Ltd.
The current commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Group stands at 8,347.78 MW, according to a regulatory filing.
With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Group will increase to 8,478.25 MW.
The tenth part capacity of 130.47 MW out of 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project located in Gujarat under CPSU scheme Phase-II Tranche III of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, is declared on Commercial Operation with effect from 00:00 hours of January 29, 2026.
As a Maharatna company under the Union Ministry of Power, NTPC has an installed capacity of ~85 GW with diversified energy presence across the entire value chain from conventional and renewable generation to coal mining, power trading, e-mobility, and green hydrogen.
The company aims at achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and investment in emerging technologies such as nuclear power, battery energy storage, carbon capture, and green chemicals.
