India Plans a ‘Digital Highway’ for its Power Sector, Seeks Public Input

Ministry of Power has announced a major new digital project called the India Energy Stack (IES). Think of it as a foundational “digital highway” that will connect everyone in the power industry.

This move is a response to the big changes happening in energy, like the rise of solar and wind power, and consumers wanting more control over their electricity use.

The goal of the IES is to create a smarter, more connected energy network. A key part of this will be a new Utility Intelligence Platform that will help power distribution companies easily share data using common digital standards. This open flow of information is expected to spark new innovations and make the entire system more efficient.

To make sure this digital backbone meets everyone’s needs, the Ministry is asking for help. It has launched a Stakeholder Mapping Survey to gather opinions from companies, tech providers, and innovators. The survey asks about what organizations do, what solutions they can offer, and how they would like to be involved in the IES.

The Ministry is encouraging all stakeholders to build their future products to be compatible with the IES’s open standards from the very beginning. This early adoption will help avoid costly upgrades later and ensure everyone is working on the same connected platform.

Interested parties are requested to complete the survey within the next two weeks. The information provided will be crucial in building a strong reference directory for utilities and technology partners.
