Hindustan Power Signs 800 MW Power Supply Deal with MPPMCL

Hindustan Power on Tuesday said it has signed a Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) for the supply of 800 MW of power from its upcoming unit in Annupur, in the state.

The Power Supply Agreement (PSA) for 800 MW will be supplied from the upcoming unit of Hindustan Power at Annupur private, the company said in a statement.

The project has been awarded under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate) model. The agreement has been signed for a period of 25 years, with an option to extend it by an additional five years. Power supply from the project is scheduled to begin in 2031.

Hindustan Power entered India’s transitional energy sector in 2008 and commissioned its Annupur project in phases during 2015 and 2016, establishing its operational presence in Madhya Pradesh,  the statement added.

The company said that the project will strengthen its contribution toward meeting the state’s long-term power demand while supporting India’s expanding power infrastructure landscape.

“This agreement represents an important milestone in Hindustan Power’s ongoing expansion strategy and reaffirms our long-term focus on the power sector. As India continues to witness rapid economic and industrial growth, the demand for dependable baseload power will remain critical.” said, Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power.

The company said the development is expected to support regional economic growth, create substantial employment opportunities, and improve long-term power availability across Madhya Pradesh.

On the country’s national energy requirements, Puri said, “India’s growing economic ambitions require dependable and scalable power infrastructure alongside the energy transition. At Hindustan Power, we remain focused on supporting the country’s rising energy demand through reliable, efficient, affordable and future-ready generation capacity that contributes to long-term energy security.”

The company operates as an integrated power generation firm with a focus on renewable and transitional energy generation in India focusing to deliver efficient, large-scale power infrastructure through advanced ultra-supercritical technology.
