Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), took charge as Chairman of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) on the 1st of April, 2026.

Sen has over four decades of experience across fuel retailing, lubricants, energy transition, and digital innovation. He is a graduate from University of Calcutta and has done a P.G Diploma in Executive Management Program from S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai.
Sen has extensive experience in marketing functions of BPCL encompassing Retail, LPG, Lubricants, Aviation, Industrial & Commercial, Gas and Consumer Retailing businesses along with core entities like Engineering & Projects, Pipelines, Central Procurement Organization, Digital Business, Corporate Brand and Public Relations.
BPCL has announced that Sen has taken over as Chairman of the company. As Business Head – Retail (West), he led an overhaul of BPCL’s retail operations across fuel stations. Under his leadership, BPCL introduced new-age formats and digital-first initiatives. The launch of BeCafe, a modern café concept at fuel stations, added a dimension to non-fuel retailing.
In the lubricants business, Sen played a role in expanding the MAK Lubricants brand across India and overseas markets including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, and Africa. He steered the business through a strategic indigenisation initiative aligned with the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
Sen has been part of BPCL’s brand and loyalty journey. As part of the core Strategy Team, he contributed to the development of brands and customer-focused platforms including Pure for Sure, Speed, PetroBonus, SmartFleet, BPCL-SBI Card, In&Out Stores, and UFill. His efforts in strategic collaborations across banking, retail, QSR, and automotive sectors have helped BPCL connect with its consumers.
