By Enersider Desk | New Delhi

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) Group has surpassed 10 gigawatts (GW) of installed renewable energy capacity, the company announced on 31st March 2026. NGEL’s total now stands at 10,076 MW, reinforcing its position as a dominant force in India’s green energy transition. This was reached following the declaration of commercial operation for 78.02 MW under the NTPC REL Khavda-I project and 90 MW under the Khavda-II project. NTPC REL is a wholly owned subsidiary of NGEL.

During the financial year 2025–2026, the group added 4,175 MW of new capacity. Notably, 2,065 MW of this capacity was commissioned in the fourth quarter alone, reflecting an accelerated pace of execution. The Khavda Renewable Energy Park, located in Gujarat, has been a major contributor. With the latest commissioning, Khavda-I is now fully operational at 1,255 MW. Khavda-II has reached 1,005 MW out of its planned 1,200 MW. Together the park contributes 2,560 MW of capacity, all of which was commissioned during the current financial year.

In a statement, NGEL reaffirmed its commitment to a cleaner and greener future. Apart from its own projects, NTPC also plays the role of an intermediary procurer. It buys power from renewable developers and sells it to state distribution companies (DISCOMs) with a trading margin. So far, 4,783 MW of renewable projects have been commissioned under this “Developer Mode.”

NTPC has set a target to achieve 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. This would account for nearly 45% of its total power generation capacity, underlining the company’s steady shift toward cleaner sources of energy.
