State-run power giant NTPC on Thursday said its step-down arm NTPC Renewable Energy has begun commercial supply of 165 MW electricity from 1200 MW Khavda-II solar project in Gujarat.

With this, the total installed capacity of NTPC group stands at 88,709 MW and commercial capacity at 87,629 MW, a regulatory filing said.
According to the filing, the NTPC announced declaration of COD (commercial operation data) of fourth part capacity of 165 MW out of 1200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Ltd through NGEL, from March 19, 2026.
In a separate filing, NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) stated that the current commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Ltd Group stands at 9562.68 MW.
With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group will increase to 9727.68 MW.
As a Maharatna company under the Union Ministry of Power, NTPC has an installed capacity of ~85 GW with diversified energy presence across the entire value chain from conventional and renewable generation to coal mining, power trading, e-mobility, and green hydrogen.
The company aims at achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and investment in emerging technologies such as nuclear power, battery energy storage, carbon capture, and green chemicals.
