NTPC Renewable Energy begins power supply from 270-MW unit of Gujarat solar project

NTPC Green Energy on Tuesday said that its arm NTPC Renewable Energy has begun the supply of electricity from a 270-MW unit, which is part of a 1,200-MW solar PV project in Gujarat.

With the addition of this capacity, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Green Energy Limited Group will increase to 9,562.68 MW, a regulatory filing said.

“Third-party capacity of 270 MW out of 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project located in Gujarat of NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Ltd, is declared on commercial operation with effect from 00:00 hrs of March 11, 2026,” the filing said.

Additionally, last week, NTPC Green Energy said its 250-MW solar PV project in Andhra Pradesh has become operational.

The project is owned by Ayana Kadapa Renewable Power, a wholly-owned subsidiary of joint venture entity ONGC NTPC Green, the company said in an exchange filing.

The second part capacity of 91.6 MW out of the 250-MW Solar PV Project located in Andhra Pradesh is declared commercially operational with effect from February 27.

The commercial operation of the first part capacity of 158.4 MW was announced on February 20.

NTPC Limited is India’s largest integrated power utility, established in 1975. It operates across the energy value chain, including conventional and renewable power generation, coal mining, power trading, e-mobility, and green hydrogen.

With an installed capacity of about 88 GW, NTPC supplies a major share of India’s electricity. The company plans to expand its renewable energy capacity to 60 GW by 2032 while exploring technologies such as battery storage, nuclear power, and carbon capture. It is a Maharatna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
