AB Energia Starts Making Its Own Solar Mounts to Boost Quality and Cut Costs

In a step to improve the quality and reliability of its solar power plants, clean energy company AB Energia has launched a new subsidiary to manufacture its own steel mounting structures.

The new company, named AVIISII Electric Systems Pvt. Ltd., will produce the fixed tilt structures that form the essential foundation for ground-mounted solar projects. This move, known as backward integration, allows AB Energia to directly control the production of a component that is critical to a plant’s safety and long-term performance. Typically, these steel structures make up 7-8% of a project’s total cost. By manufacturing them in-house, AB Energia aims to better manage expenses, avoid supply delays, and, most importantly, ensure top-tier quality.

“The mounting structure is the backbone of any solar plant. If it isn’t perfectly engineered, it can lead to lower energy production or even serious damage in bad weather,” said Mr. Siddharth Bhatia, Managing Director of AB Energia. “With AVIISII, we guarantee this foundation is built to the highest standards of durability and precision, capable of lasting for decades.”

The launch is also timely, supporting India’s goal of energy self-reliance (‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’) by boosting domestic manufacturing amid global supply chain challenges.

The new venture is already seeing significant demand. AVIISII has secured orders worth over ₹50 crores and aims to produce more than 5,000 tonnes of structures in its first six months. While these structures will primarily be used in AB Energia’s own projects, the company also plans to supply them to other solar contractors, opening up a new revenue stream.

In summary, AB Energia’s strategic expansion into manufacturing is more than a business growth move. It strengthens India’s solar infrastructure, ensures higher quality projects, and solidifies the company’s role as a leading and self-reliant clean energy provider.
