The inaugural edition of India SAF Conclave and Awards 2025 in New Delhi is a step towards decarbonising the aviation sector.

The event brought together government leaders, global experts, industry stakeholders, and innovators to chart a national course for the development and adoption of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
Organised by the SAF Association, the conclave was held under the theme “Powering the Future of Sustainable Aviation”, with a strong focus on developing a “Farm to Aviation Fuel Economy”.
Discussions throughout the day centered on policy frameworks, investment opportunities, state-level initiatives, and innovation ecosystems needed to position India as a global hub for SAF production and deployment.
A major highlight was the unveiling of the SAF Association’s collaborative vision for India’s SAF future.
Rohit Kumar, Secretary General of the Association, emphasised the need for coordinated action across industry, government, and research.
He outlined how SAF aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ mission by enabling domestic manufacturing, reducing dependency on fuel imports, and promoting green innovation.
Jimmy Olsson, President of the SAF Association, underscored SAF’s potential to create jobs, boost rural economies, and support India’s green energy transition.
He called for significant investments to build supply chains and scale up production.
State participation emerged as a key pillar in SAF development. Shashank Chaudhary, Additional CEO of Invest UP, revealed that Uttar Pradesh aims to become India’s SAF production hub, leveraging agriculture to support both clean fuel and farmer prosperity.
Science and innovation also featured prominently. Dr. Anita Gupta from Science and Technology highlighted India’s vast talent pool and stressed the importance of empowering research and startups in the SAF space.
The conclave concluded with a resounding consensus: India has the resources, talent, and ambition to lead the global SAF movement.
The event laid the foundation for actionable partnerships, investments, and policy directions to drive the country’s transition to sustainable aviation.
